What was your first job?
Did you work retail in highschool?
Were you a server at a restaurant during college?
If you’re having severe flashbacks, chances are you’ve heard this before: “The customer is always right.”
In any industry (retail, restaurant, hospitality, etc.), your customer is the most crucial element. Without customers, your business will. not. succeed.
The same can be said about the fitness and wellness industry. But, how much do you know about the customer lifecycle?
Wait a minute… What’s a customer lifecycle? Why does it matter?
The customer lifecycle is the analysis of a customer’s journey with your business. It moves from pre-purchase to purchase and to what happens after.
Well, that’s a mouth-full.
STEP ONE: The moment you first catch a potential customer’s attention.
This happens way before they even know who you are or what you offer. It’s the moment they land on your website or the moment they stop their infinite scroll to read your post. It’s the very first contact they ever have with you or your brand.
STEP TWO: The potential customer engages with you or your brand.
You’ve captured their attention. They liked your post or commented on it—now what?! Best case scenario, they reach out to you first. But, if they don’t, send that DM.
Think: hook, line, and sinker. It’s about making the RIGHT kind of contact at the RIGHT frequency. And remember, you don’t want to seem too pushy (or worse) uninterested.
STEP THREE: The potential customer becomes an ACTUAL customer.
This is the moment you’ve been waiting for. They’re no longer a potential customer. They’re IN IT. However, just because the customer has chosen to work with you or buy your product doesn’t mean the work ends there!
You need to keep your current clients happy and fulfilled with what you offer, no matter what. And that means you need to continue to work hard, every day, providing them with value LONG after their initial purchase.
After all, wouldn’t you rather have a customer who keeps coming back instead of being a customer only once?
I sure would.
